Listings, tax, and risk

Real Estate API

Search US homes for sale and for rent, built on Realtor.com data. Each result carries a property id that the detail calls take for value estimates, tax and sale history, nearby schools, and flood, wildfire, heat, wind, and air quality risk.

Capabilities

What you can do with the Real Estate API

Search returns a property_id for each home, and most detail calls take it as propertyId. A few market calls work from a ZIP code, a state, or a location instead of a single property.

Search homes for sale and rent

For-sale search takes a city and state and filters by price, beds, baths, property type, and recent price reductions, returning up to 200 homes per request. Rental search accepts a city, a ZIP code, or another place Realtor.com recognizes, and autocomplete turns a partial name into a location. See examples

Value and the local market

Property estimates return current, historical, and forecast values grouped by provider. Neighborhood market trends add the median list and sold prices, days on market, and price per square foot for the city, the county, and the neighborhoods around the home. See examples

Tax and sale history

Tax history returns yearly tax amounts and assessments, the listing and sale events with their prices, and building permits, plus a summary of the tax trend and the price change from the first event to the latest. See examples

Environmental risk

For one property you get flood, wildfire, heat, wind, and air quality risk, each with a score, a severity, and a trend. The meta block adds the average score and an overall level from Low to Severe. See examples

Schools and amenities

Neighborhood amenities returns nearby schools with ratings and a summary by type and level, the property's location scores, and local places such as groceries, cafes, and outdoor activities grouped by category, within a radius of 1 to 25 miles. See examples

Sample responses

Each sample is a trimmed response from one endpoint, with its meta block and the first part of body. The docs show a full response for each of the 18 endpoints.

* Overage is optional and stays off until you turn it on in Billing. It is available on paid plans billed by card through Stripe, and not during a trial. Usage is counted in monthly periods that start on your billing day, yearly plans included. Requests past the included limit are charged at the plan's rate for each started block of 1,000, up to the overage cap, on one invoice after the period ends. Amounts under $0.50 carry over to the next invoice. If you change plans during a period, the limit and overage rate of the plan you are on when the period ends apply to the whole period.

The Free plan is also capped at 20 requests per day (New York time). Requests count by endpoint weight, and only responses with HTTP status 200 count.

Commercial use is included only on the plans that list it. If you are not sure whether your project counts as commercial use, email [email protected] before you launch.

Why SteadyAPI

How the calls fit together

Search narrows the list of homes, and the per-property calls run only for the ones a user opens.

Two ids from one home

propertyId is the property_id from search, rental search, or nearby home values. Listing views and saves, and photo-matched similar homes, also need listingId, which comes from nearby home values or tax history.

Market data without an address

Housing market details work from a ZIP code, price histograms from a location, and the 30-year fixed mortgage rate series from a state code. They suit market pages that are not about one house.

Homes to compare

Similar homes, photo-matched similar homes, nearby new construction, and home values around a point each return listings you can show beside the property being viewed.

US listings from Realtor.com

The data comes from Realtor.com and covers US properties. For-sale search expects a city and state such as Oklahoma-City_OK, and each result includes its Realtor.com listing URL.
