Prices and coin data

Crypto Data API

Pass a coin's slug, such as bitcoin, to get its price statistics, profile, and holder data. You can also page through the listing ranked by market cap, or read market-wide lists such as trending coins, new listings, and the top gainers and losers.

Capabilities

What you can do with the Crypto API

Profile, quotes, and holders each take one coin's slug in the key parameter. The coin listing and the modules are market-wide and take a page number or a module name instead.

Coin profile

Returns the coin's name, symbol, category, description, date added, and status, along with project links such as the website, block explorers, source code, and social accounts. See examples

Price statistics

Quotes return the price, percent change from 1 hour to all time, market cap and fully diluted market cap, circulating, total, and max supply, market dominance, rank, and high and low prices from 24 hours to all time, plus 24-hour volume. See examples

The coin listing

One page of the listing, ordered by market-cap rank, with each coin's name, symbol, slug, supply, and price data. Pages run from 1 to 100, meta.total gives the size of the full listing, and each call has a weight of 5. See examples

Holders

Returns the total holder count and the number of daily active addresses, plus the top holder addresses with each balance and its share of supply. See examples

Market modules

Each call returns one market-wide set: global market metrics, trending coins, most-visited coins, newly added coins, top gainers, or top losers. Modules do not take a coin slug. See examples

Sample responses

Each sample shows a few fields from one response, without the meta block that a live call also returns. The docs show the full response for each endpoint.

How a call usually goes

If you do not know a coin's slug, find it in the coin listing. Pass that slug to quotes for a price row, and to profile or holders when a coin page needs them. Market-wide screens such as trending coins or top gainers come from modules, with no slug at all.

Documentation

The crypto docs cover all five endpoints: the slug that profile, quotes, and holders take, the page range for the coin listing, the six module names, and a sample response for each.

Code samples

Every endpoint in the documentation includes a sample request in Shell, JavaScript, PHP, and Python.

Why SteadyAPI

How the endpoints divide the work

Coin calls and market-wide calls are separate, so each screen requests only what it shows.

One coin, three reads

Profile, quotes, and holders take the same slug. A price ticker calls quotes and stops, while a coin page can add the profile and the holder list.

Find the slug in the listing

The slug is the lowercase name used in the coin's page URL, such as bitcoin or ethereum. Every row in the coin listing includes it, so the listing doubles as a lookup table.

Many timeframes in one quote

A single quote carries percent change from 1 hour to all time and high and low prices from 24 hours to all time, so a coin page does not need one call per period. The crypto group has no candle or price-history endpoint.

Weights by endpoint

Profile, quotes, and holders each count 1 request, modules count 2, and a page of the coin listing counts 5. A screener that pages through the listing uses more of a plan than a watchlist priced with quotes.

Pricing

One plan covers every API

Your plan's monthly requests work on this API and every other SteadyAPI API. Plan details, overage rates, and the Free plan's daily cap are on the pricing page. Need more volume than the largest plan? Email [email protected].

* Overage is optional and stays off until you turn it on in Billing. It is available on paid plans billed by card through Stripe, and not during a trial. Usage is counted in monthly periods that start on your billing day, yearly plans included. Requests past the included limit are charged at the plan's rate for each started block of 1,000, up to the overage cap, on one invoice after the period ends. Amounts under $0.50 carry over to the next invoice. If you change plans during a period, the limit and overage rate of the plan you are on when the period ends apply to the whole period.

The Free plan is also capped at 20 requests per day (New York time). Requests count by endpoint weight, and only responses with HTTP status 200 count.

Commercial use is included only on the plans that list it. If you are not sure whether your project counts as commercial use, email [email protected] before you launch.
