FAQ

API usage and technical questions

Request format, weights, rate limits, and errors. The documentation covers each endpoint in detail.

Any language that can send an HTTPS request. The documentation has samples in Shell, JavaScript, PHP, and Python for every endpoint.

Yes. Connect Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, or another MCP client to https://api.steadyapi.com/mcp with your API key. Each tool call counts as a normal request by the endpoint's weight. Setup steps are on the AI agents page.

A request counts by its weight when the response has HTTP status 200. Responses with a 4xx or 5xx status do not count. Some endpoints answer with HTTP 200 and "success": false when the source has no result, and those responses do count.
Your dashboard shows the requests used in the current period. The allowance resets once a month, and we email you when your usage passes 80% and 100% of it.
HTTP 403 means the key, plan, or limit does not allow the request. HTTP 422 means a parameter is missing or not valid. HTTP 429 means you went over the per-second limit. The errors table lists each case.
Responses are JSON. Most have a meta object with the version, status, and details of your request, and a body with the data. Errors return "success": false with a message.
Each endpoint has a weight from 1 to 5, listed in the documentation. A request uses as many requests from your allowance as its weight, so one call to an endpoint with weight 2 counts as 2 requests.
Yes. Each account can send up to 10 requests per second, and Instagram endpoints allow 1 request per second. Over the limit you get HTTP 429 with a retry_after value in seconds. See Rate limiting.
Options data is only included on plans that list it. The Free plan does not include it.

FAQ

Plans and billing

The pricing page lists every plan with its allowance, overage rate, and cap.

Paid plans do not include a trial at the moment. The Free plan lets you test the APIs, except options data, with 500 requests a month and no more than 15 requests a day.
You pay for the first period at checkout. Monthly plans then renew every month and yearly plans every year, on the same date, until you cancel. If you turn on overage, extra requests are invoiced separately after each monthly usage period ends.
Requests beyond your allowance are refused with HTTP 403 until it resets, unless overage is turned on. With overage on, requests continue up to your plan's cap and the extra requests are billed in blocks of 1,000 at your plan's rate. The pricing page explains the details.
Cancel from Billing. If you cancel at the end of the period, you keep access until it ends and are not charged again. If you cancel now, access ends right away. Fees already paid are non-refundable, as stated in the Terms and Conditions.
Card payments are processed by Stripe, and PayPal is also accepted for paid plans. Overage billing is only available on Stripe card subscriptions. SteadyAPI does not store your payment details.
The yearly price is charged once, at the start of the year, and the pricing table shows it as a monthly amount for comparison. Your request allowance still resets every month, and unused requests do not carry over.
Yes. For card subscriptions, upgrades and switches between monthly and yearly billing are charged right away, prorated for the rest of the period. Downgrades take effect right away, and the difference is credited to your next invoice. Moving to the Free plan happens at the end of the current period. You see the amount before you confirm. If you pay another way, contact support.

FAQ

Commercial use and licensing

How plans relate to commercial projects.

Only on plans that include Commercial Use, as listed on the pricing page. Other plans are for personal, non-commercial projects. If you are not sure whether your project counts as commercial use, email [email protected] before you launch.
The Terms and Conditions grant a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to use the service, as long as you follow the terms. Commercial use is covered only on plans that include Commercial Use; on other plans the license is for personal, non-commercial use. If you have a licensing question the terms do not answer, email [email protected].
